Typhoid fever is also called Enteric Fever, The test is done for screening purposes for diagnosis of suspected case of Typhoid.As typhoid fever is endemic in India. The test is done to detects the presence of IgM antibodies to Salmonella typhi. The early rising antibodie which is predominantly IgM can be detected by this test. The conventional Widal test detects antibodies to Salmonela typhi from 7-10 days of onset of symptoms. This test serves as a marker for recent infections of Typhoid.
