Dr. Jatinder Kaur

Dr. Jatinder Kaur

Dr. Jatinder Kaur is an eminent Research Scientist with extensive experience in Cancer Biology. Dr Kaur is leading the Research and Development group in Molecular Quest Healthcare (MolQ), Gurgaon. Her career as a cancer biologist is a testament to translational research leading newer avenues in exploring novel molecular networks involved in cancer development and determining their potential as molecular targets for therapy. Dr Kaur’s research contributions in the field of cancer research have been considerable as demonstrated by over 50 research publications authored in high impact peer reviewed journals. She is actively involved in verification and validation of the proteomics-based biomarkers for head and neck cancer. Based on these results, a panel of proteins has been proposed that can be used by clinicians for predicting prognosis accurately for head and neck cancer patients.

Research pursued by her in the field of cancer biology has culminated in significant contributions to the scientific community. Her work on establishment and characterization of human oral cancer cell lines and premalignant cell cultures, and their use to understand the molecular mechanism implicated in chemopreventive action of retinoic acid lead to the most significant contribution leading to the establishment of first human oral cancer cell line from smokeless consumer of tobacco (US Patent No. 6,730,514, Indian Patent No. 232332). She has been associated with India’s first epidemiology study on incidence of oral premalignant lesions in north India and their association with risk factors such as tobacco, alcohol and genetic susceptibility genes.

She has a brilliant academic record comprising of highly competitive fellowship and projects from Lady Tata Memorial, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), DST and DBT, India. She earned her PhD from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and has post-doctoral research experience from John Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA and Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada. She has excellent multidisciplinary training in genetic, genomics, cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, proteomics, biostatistics, bioinformatics and exploits their applications in cancer biology.
